You own sixteen cats, and what does it mean?
Lots o’ kibble to buy, lots o’ boxes to clean.
Don’t ask me out of town because I can’t go:
If they don’t get fed they get awful-ly sore.   

I found my first on a mornin’ when the sun didn’t shine.
Saw him in the alley and I said “You’re mine!”
I fed him and I cleaned him and got rid of his fleas—
Two months later he turned out to be SHE.

I got number six in the drizzlin’ rain,
Brought him inside and he began to complain:
“It’s good to be dry, but I’m tellin’ you flat:
I `am `not a `number, I `am a `free `cat!”    *

If you see me comin’ better step aside.
A lot o’ cats didn’t and a lot o’ cats cried.
I’ve got shoes made of leather, clogs made of wood,
And if either of ’em gets you, you won’t feel too good.

Up to now my place has been rel’tively calm
But the last one I got was an unaltered tom.
He won’t let me catch him, and I’m sorry to say
I expect a dozen kittens in the next few days!

Final chorus:
