Tags?

Just out of curiosity, are there any tags usable in this community? I'd tag the Pasadena Folk Music Society posts, but thus far everything I've tried has been rejected as apparently I don't have the right to create new tags, and no list of what current tags ARE seems to exist. What should I call it?

We went through this for another community, I believe the admin has to fix this (sibylle) by going to the "Manage Tags" page for the community and set more liberal rules for tagging.

I believe the reason that you couldn't find a list of current tags is that the list of current tags is empty, as shown in https://filk.dreamwidth.org/tag/ .

I was under the impression that one can add tags with any new post, but maybe that is different for communities ...
I can ping Sib if she does not see this herself.

As far as I can tell, communities can have three different settings for tags: only admin/owner can tag, everyone can tag their own posts, everyone can tag every post. For your own journal, the first two cases collapses into a single one.

We might also want to look into having a co-admin or co-owner. sibylle is active, but having only a single person who can do admin stuff is a single point of failure.

While I agree about the admin thing, I am sure it was never intended this way. It is only a very recent thing that everyone returns here and is active - DW was kinda deserted for a long time and all Sib wanted to do was secure the community name.

I am honestly not sure what you mean :) Why should we not be able to stay here? (or is it just because you do not know Sibylle? she is quite well known in filk and one of the most reliable people I know ...)

No, I don't know Sibylle, but I have no doubt she does a fine job here (she has so far). It's just that one never knows when someone leaves the loop, for whatever reason.

It sort of feels like we're disagreeing over agreeing :-)

I see all the points :-) - I made this group way back when no-one was on DW, so the name would be secure, and no-one used the group - yes we definitely need multiple moderators etc. I am replying from my phone right now, from work, shall look into tags etc when I get home

I have changed the settings so that entry authors can now create tags. Sorry this wasn't enabled in the first place!

No worries about it not working earlier; both LJ and DW has managed to hide lots of things in obscure little pages and their defaults are not always the best.
